Allbirds introduces its latest design: the Tree Glider, a versatile shoe that pairs well with any outfit and is tailored for an active lifestyle.

As Allbirds collaborates with wellness expert Melissa Wood-Tepperberg, founder of Melissa Wood Health, to bring this sophisticated, active design to fruition.
“The Allbirds Tree Glider is hands down one of the most comfortable sneakers you will ever wear. It feels like you are walking on clouds,” said Melissa Wood-Tepperberg. “I'm a big believer in getting movement in literally whenever, wherever you are and the Glider is great when squeezing in those standing series.”
“In an industry saturated with maximalist designs, we instead exercise a reductive approach, stripping away the superfluous to focus on enduring elements of style,” said Jamie McLellan, product designer, Allbirds. “The Tree Glider is a reflection of this refined way of creating. Every detail was designed with a singular intention: create a closet staple that perfectly suits an active lifestyle, moving effortlessly with you no matter what the day demands.”
The Tree Glider features a one-piece knit upper that offers a sock-like sensation from the very first step. This upper is crafted from Allbirds’s signature Tree material, ensuring comfort and breathability.
TENCEL Lyocell fibers provide a naturally soft feel to fabrics, ensuring that your feet stay cool and dry even during intense activities, thanks to their excellent moisture-wicking properties. Allbirds elaborates all fibers are ethically sourced from certified wood sources such as spruce, pine, birch, beech, and eucalyptus, adhering to FSC or PEFC standards. This means that the extraction of wood is carefully managed to maintain a balance with forest growth. Additionally, TENCEL Lyocell fibers are produced with at least 50% lower carbon emissions and water usage compared to standard lyocell.
The SuperLight midsole, recognized as Allbirds’s lightest and most eco-friendly foam, delivers a cushioned experience for all-day wear. Composed of approximately 70% bio-based materials, SuperLight Foam stands out against conventional foams, which are typically derived from petroleum-based plastics.
Weighing in at around 7.6oz (W8), the shoe boasts a carbon footprint of just 4.19 kg CO2e, which is less than one-third of the average sneaker's carbon footprint, estimated at about 14 kg CO2e based on our findings.
The Tree Glider, priced at $135 USD, is offered in both full and half sizes for men and women. This new style comes in four vibrant color options and will be available online at www.allbirds.com and in stores starting August 13, 2024.
